Disruption of Business and the New Economy: May 29, 10am-11am
Darrell Kopke will be moderating a panel with 4 sector representatives in Food, Design, Sustainability, and Technology to hear what their roles as activists will be in leading the way for the new economy.
Capitalism is being disrupted whether we open our eyes to it or not. With 80 million Millennials representing spending power in the $170 billion range annually, this is the largest generation in North American history. By 2020, its members will represent one out of every three adults on the continent. Research is showing that over 90% of Generation Y would take lower pay to work for a values-aligned corporation and that 50%+ try to buy products that have embedded social impact. The lines between activism and capitalism are blurring and blurring quickly. Companies that are committed to positively contributing to society will become the norm and we will see the end of Corporate Social Responsibility departments in corporations; all employees will be mandated to comply.
