Danielle Laporte & Institute B Team Up To Help Creativity Flow
A bright industrial space in Gastown houses Institute B; a local accelerator with a twist. Insititute B and a number of their partner companies are B Corp. Certified, which means they have declared to conduct business in a way that benefits society, as well as the shareholders. Sadly, it’s an unconventional idea to conduct business with a conscience, but that’s exactly what Bix Bickson, a Partner and Mojo at Institute B, is doing.
A perfectly aligned partnership between Institute B and Danielle Laporte has resulted in The Freedom to Create workshop, which takes place on Friday, April 19th. Laporte is an entrepreneur and author who calls Vancouver home (in fact, she is Bix Bickson’s neighbour!). In the past she has started her own communications company, wrote The Fire Starter Sessions and created a personal website that is one of Forbes’ ‘Top 100 Websites for Women’.
Danielle Laporte and Bix Bickson will lead entrepreneurs and aspiring business people, through an intensive, full-day workshop and send them off with $10,000 ideas. The process will involve breaking down the barriers to creativity. “The #1 blocker of creative flow is the fear of what other people will think,” Danielle Laporte mentioned in a phone interview, “it is a fear of reception and perception.”
The Freedom to Create workshop aims to provide clear strategies for attendees to clearly understand their vision and how to execute on it. By committing to the right vision, and understanding what’s not working, Laporte believes the aforementioned fear will dissolve. For the cost of a ticket, attendees will get all-day, direct access to Danielle Laporte and Bix Bickson, whom Laporte has called “a sage”, and special guest and Darrell Kopke. Guests will also have a chance to choose the charitable organization that $50 from every ticket will be donated to. Now, that’s business with a conscience.
If you’re not afraid of “wide-awake living”, as Laporte put it, then you may walk away from the Freedom to Create event with some audacious plans for your future.
